About The Club

Learn a bit more before your stay

Downhill Ski Club is an Incorporated Society that was founded in 1963. Our members are a mix of families and singles who enjoy the outdoor activities available in National Park such as hiking, biking, skiing and snowboarding.

Our lodge is available all year round, and is a great base outside the winter season to enjoy the wide range of outdoor activities the area offers. From mountain biking, hiking, rafting, and fishing as well as skiing and snowboarding.

Our aim is to provide family friendly accommodation at an affordable price.

In recent years the National Park lodge has had a number renovations, the latest is the extension of the front deck to create a larger outdoor area.

Facilities

The lodge has comfortable facilities including bedrooms rather than dormitories, lounges with wood burners, large kitchens, drying rooms and ski work benches.

The Lodge has a large combined lounge and dining area with a fireplace, off the main lounge is a small reading/movie room. (The TV plays DVD or VHS but there is no TV reception).

The Kitchen is well equipped with 2 ovens, toasters, microwave, fridge, zip for boiling water, plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. It is large enough for a number of people to use simultaneously.

There are 10 bedrooms accommodating a maximum of 38 people. Most bedrooms have a double bed with either one or two single beds.

To make the club experience more pleasant for everyone, we ask that everyone does at least one chore before you leave from the chore sheet.

Our National Park Lodge gives members the option to ski or board at either Whakapapa (17km) or Turoa (54km). The lodge offers accommodation from $28 per night in summer and $30 in the ski season.
